The Dark Oak Village was a town created by Matt on the Castles & Casinos & Villages server, which acted as a joint base of operations and mega-build project as the server progressed. All the buildings in the village followed a steampunk-esque style of dark oak roofs and stone bases. It is renowned for being Matt's most developed base in his TNTable tenure.

Features

Wizard's Tower

Wizard's Tower

The Wizard's Tower was the first building constructed in the village, and acted as a home area for Matt. It features a slab spiral staircase that lead into the main living quarters at the top of the tower.

No building existed prior to its construction for Matt to live in. Before the Wizard's Tower project began, Matt simply lived inside a small fence enclosure with essential crafting supplies, in the area that would eventually make up the Garden.

Later in the server's existence, Matt enlisted the assistance of David to construct a secret redstone project involving the tower, but that's up to you to discover.

The Restaurant

The Restaurant

The Restaurant was a two-story duplex-like house and second building constructed in the village as a follow-up to the automatic chicken farm constructed shortly following the Wizard's Tower's conclusion. The Restaurant was made up of two key components - the lounging and seating areas, found on both floors of the building, and the kitchen, which built around the pre-existing chicken farm.

At one point, several of the mainstay players gathered together to eat at the restaurant.

The Library

The Library

The Library was an expansive labyrinth for knowledge, and was the third building constructed in the village. It acted as the main enchanting area for the village, as well as a display for written literature within the server. It featured a conjoined tower with an attic, where the Book of Genesis could be read.

Miner's Guild

Miner's Guild, interior

The Miner's Guild was the biggest building in the village, and the fourth building constructed overall, which acted as a multi-faceted hub for mining needs. It featured a fully functional auto-storage system for materials and minerals, which utilized bubble columns and was hooked into the mining area, as well as an auto-smelter for raw minerals. Over time, the building saw three basement developments to accommodate more storage needs, including storage for mob drops, nether items, as well as a medieval tavern.

Woodcutter's Guild

Woodcutter's Guild

The Woodcutter's Guild was a building similar in scope to the Miner's Guild, and was the fifth building constructed overall. It acted the same as the Miner's Guild except without any of the essential redstone systems, and was never fully fitted out in its only basement floor. However, it was utile for its purpose of storing items relating to woodcutting.

Clock Tower (v2)

Clock Tower

The Clock Tower was an aesthetic building with a slightly altered wooden steampunk design, and was the sixth building constructed overall. It was built overtop the main bubble column used for transportation out of the mining area, and was meant to cover up the gaping distraction in the ground. However, it is known for a 1.0 model which was shorter in scope and notably phallic in retrospect, becoming known as the Cock Tower, before the tower was returned to and given the attention it deserved for it to grow.

Villager Houses

Three houses were built on the lakeside portion of the town over the course of the server, in order to house various villagers brought into the area. However, all the villagers opted to live hodge-podge style within the same beachside house, which became the de facto villager house, and resulted in an infestation of iron golem spawning around the house.

The Church

The church was an aesthetic building on the east side of the village. No religion was ever established, but it did house two librarian villagers as caretakers of the church.

The Garden

The Garden

The Garden was a nature-inspired build meant to provide aesthetic diversity to the village, and was built later in the server's tenure. It consisted of a small square enclosure featuring brick pathways, several different flowers, and a custom-built giant tree of oak made to resemble a willow tree.

Other Buildings

Other buildings existed including a gazebo for the nether portal, a map building, a pen for horses, and a rural house for animal containment. The former three were small build projects and fulfilled their purpose, while the rural house was intended to be a precursor for creating other auto-farms involving animals, but it was prioritized low in requirement and ultimately never came to pass.

Associated Projects

The Bunker

The Bunker was an excavation site that was located on the outskirts of the village, and was acclaimed in TNTable lore as a primary contributing force to Matt acquiring several mining-based advancements.

Subway System

A dedicated subway tunnel from David's Castle ran through the underground area of the village with a one-to-one line that ended with a station within the village. The station could be accessed from an above-ground stairway next to the beachside villager house. An additional second line was constructed with an underwater glass tunnel which brought players to the Desert Warehouse.
