War Ridden started with a goal to create a PvP team death-match style PvP server in vanilla Minecraft using command blocks and the new (at the time) scoreboard system. This map is not the latest version of the server as far as we know. There was a nice spawn structure created but it has been lost in the digital void now.

Server Details

The server's primary function was to host the TDM (team death match) games, though it also had a creative build area, and a survival area that never quite made sense since it was a superflat world. The creative build area can be down as a separate map in the Server Map link.

If you load the correct version of Minecraft (1.8 I believe) the commands will still work and you can experience it for yourself.

This is likely not the latest version of the server world. This version was found while clearing out old cloud storage folders.

Game Details

War Ridden was a class-based PvP team death match, think Team Fortress 2 but Minecraft. The War Ridden PvP Arena featured two spawn areas, excellently designed and built by Michael. The bases and map look fantastic considering we did this in 2013.

At some point there was a large spawn area in the sky that was built and from what I remember it was quite well-done. I wish I saved it better, it was really cool and Michael did a great job on that too.

Gameplay

Each match would drop you in a spawn area far below the base where you would select a class and receive your gear. Then you would be teleported into the base to begin the match. When you died you were sent back to an area where you could change class or simply respawn and keep playing. The rest of the details are a little fuzzy.

Other Details

We had a surprisingly large quantity of testers for this map, we posted to a forum if I remember correctly. I believe this was also the map that we invited a random person to join the Teamspeak we had to ask for feedback and they DDoSed the server. The modem had to be unplugged for several minutes and a new IP was assigned to David's house. It was the middle of the workday and people were working from home.
