The Statue of Excavation is a build project created by Matt on the Current Server.

A monument to mountain movers everywhere, the humanoid statue closely resembles the build's creator, consists mainly of stone blocks but also includes secondary gravel and andesite blocks scattered throughout. Additionally, the torso of the body is outlined in dead fire coral, and the head is engraved with a face consisting of polished basalt, smooth stone, and blue terracotta. The helmet, based on the creator's diamond helmet, is modeled completely in tuff, with additional clay and light-grey wool blocks for shine. The base platform is made out of polished andesite with polished deepslate pattern, with a top made from waxed weathered copper and oxidized copper blocks.

The build was inspired by a desire to experiment with a palette of unsaturated colors. The idea for the build first came from an old joke thread on the TNTable Discord's planning forum, suggesting a re-creation of a comically wide Steve statue back in October 2022. The tower lays off the coast of the Outpost Tower, outside the water entrance to the Lush Ravine.

Trivia

  • The statue was the first build completed after the server's 1.20 revival, in July 2023.
  • To help with the tower's creation, it was first built from scratch in the TNTable's Creative world, before being translated over to the SMP world.
